Rugs and rugs weaving have a very long history. they had been known for really long period of type. And rugs were made all over the globe. In every country rugs have their special features and styles.
In contrast with other countries on American continent rugs have been developingin a little bitdifferent way.
Rugs were not a usual thing. Most common type of coverings for native american always were blankets. These later outgrew into some sort of rugs. So it were Navajo rugs blankets or mohawk rugs blankets and so on.
The most known around the world navajo or mohawk rugs are Chief blankets.
The name of it do not reflect the truth about them. This type of navajo or mohawk rugs could be warn by anyone not just chiefs. Usually they were used as a sort of clothes being wraped around the body so it is not perfectly correct the navajo and mohawk rugs - they are more blankets then rugs.
